Then I placed a second order for an additional item I needed and saw on the swiss colony website that you can request 2 free items and if it doesn't go thru you can send an e-mail telling them why you feel you should get the 2nd item free. I had done that with my first order and was denied, but presumed they had fixed the issue. After all, why would you keep offering your faithful customers these things, then take them away? That's risking having the total order cancelled! So, I placed my 2nd order with them, and checked their website, whick says you can get 1 free item per order, or if you got an e-mail or catalog with a 2nd free offer, they will honor it.
Guess what? They didn't. Nope. They sent me another e-mail saying I was only able to get 1 free item. We did the e-mail dance again and I was denied again. So sick of this company. I have ordered from them faithfully for years. I got a credit card from them with a $600 limit for easy holiday shopping. I have been a faithful customer for years and this is how they treat people.
Anyway, my husband wanted to place an order (it was a gift for me) and wanted to use my swiss colony credit card. I told him that was fine, but to open his own account with them so he didn't see what I'd ordered HIM for Christmas. He placed his order, then saw the promo for the 4 free gifts for first time customers and the free truffles promo code. Not only did it deny him (a first time customer with a new account, never ordered from them before and used all his own info--not mine--only used my credit card) and they said he was ineligible for ANY free items.
That was the last straw--I made him cancel the order and cut up my swiss colony charge card. I have mis-spent literally thousands of dollars with this company over the years and have regretted doing business with them nearly every time. There is certainly always some bait and switch involved with the freebies, half of the time they don't give them to you, and their prices and shipping are outrageous, no matter how you look at it! They mis-represent the sizes of items in their photos frequently and their customer service is nonexistent, unless they are promptly e-mailing you to let you know they are cancelling your free items.
Overall--I am a very pissed consumer. Enough's enough". They aren't getting another penny from me--or anyone im my family or homeschool group/. I have for years placed LARGE group orders for family and friends from swiss colony at the holidays, but this was the last year for us?. I've already found a local company that gives quality products for less and no bait and switch--if they say they';re giving you something for being a loyal customer or first time shopper--they DO IT!
I guess I shouldn't have trusted anyone that charges so much for so little product and such pricey shipping, but I thought their free offers were genuine because, lets face it, anyone charging that much needs to entice customers by offering freebies! There are alot of other customers who feel the same way--check out retail-me-not;. There are literally hundreds of pissed consumers there who have had the same trouble as me".
Swiss colony won;t be in business much longer with prices like those, shipping like that, and not honoring their own promotions?. In this economy, people don't have money to throw away;. They will go for the best value and customer service'. I got neither from Swiss Colony. 1291c6e

1. Written by missing the point on March 1, 2011 from sigourney, iowa, US You are all missing the point. If a company says on its website that they WILL GIVE YOU these free multiple promos, that they have sent you in emails or catalogs, and that company DOES NOT ANYWHERE in the ads they send you (at the same time mind you) and on the website, same thing until AFTER you place your order, then, yes, you are entitled to more than one if it is stated or represented that way. Check your facts--yes, the website NOW says something about not more than 1 unless you email their customer service dept--it DID NOT until they started to get so many complaints. And I agree with whoever was the last commentator--they charge SO MUCH for their products that they can afford to give away a few free chocolates or whatever. It is ridiculous how much they charge for their items and shipping, especially for what you get. $25 for some pretzels, or $ 30 for cheesecake the size of your hand--seriously....

And I dont know where u get ur pizza from, but my pizza place always gives me more than 1 free promo. urs must not like u very much. LOL! Or maybe my pizza place realizes this is also the age of businesses shuttering their windows and their doors because times are tough and ppl need to get some value for their money. dont know if u have ever ordered frm swiss colony, but they are EXPENSIVE and so's their shipping. they can afford 2 give away a few free chocolates--that or risk losing most of their business because ppl wont continue to buy frm a company thats so pricey without some motivation. Just my 2 cents as well. |
3. Written by Mandy on March 1, 2011 from owensboro, kentucky, US So, Are you REALLY mad because you couldn't get more than one FREE item? If so, why do you think you are entitled to more than one free item on a single order? No company will give you multiple promotions on the same order. Even pizza delivery places won't give you a free 2-liter promo and a free breadstick promo on the same order! We sure are living in the age of entitlement aren't we?
4. Written by If it sounds too good to be tr on January 24, 2011 from hannibal, missouri, US Did my research and realized no company is going to give away free stuff to everyone.(called and asked first) Also as with any credit card if someone else uses your credit card the bill will still be yours. As with any company that advertises that you are pre-approved before even knowing anything about you...BUYER BEWARE!!! Do your research read the information in the customer service tab and call and ask questions. Also read what your financial charges will be, companies like this are aimed for people with low or bad credit. Hey you obviously read the website because he copied and pasted from the free item. Just remember if it sounds too good to be true to probably is.
5. Written by brian m on January 20, 2011 from sigourney, iowa, US that's about the quality of response i would expect from a swiss colony company representative. excuses and snyde comments. get over yourself. hey you--you really are a pompous ***, just like another commentor stated!!
6. Written by me too on January 20, 2011 from sigourney, iowa, US I agree with another pissed consumer--this company is really ridiculous. i've had enough little customer service complaints that i decided to never order from them again when i discovered that on my second order they said i had exceeded my free offer limit--when i was just requestiong the free item they had advertised in the catalog they sent me. just one. wow. i think this company really misrepresents itself and doesn't give a darn what its customers think as long as they get paid.
7. Written by another pissed consumer on January 20, 2011 from sigourney, iowa, US first off, loet me just say that hey you is obviously an ignorant sheep employee of swiss colony. i have also had many of the same complaints about this company and can tell you that there is NO one manning the helm of the customer service department. it is nonexistent. the products are crappy, and those that are decent are WAY overpriced. not to mention the disgraceful shipping prices. honestly--why are people paying $15 for chocolate covered pretzels in tiny portions or $40 for itty bitty summer sausage and dry crumbly tiny cheeses? even if the products were of any quality to speak of, the prices are OVER THE TOP on every single item. as far as the husband ordering and using his wifes credit card and not getting the first time customer free item-i have had a similar experience as well with ordering on my moms account to send a gift to my grandma--ALL AFTER CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SEE IF IT WAS OKAY--and being told that all that mattered was that my name was on the ordering information. get off your high horse dude--your catalogs only started displaying the 1 item per order rule in the very last edition before christmas--the one most of us received at the end of november said nothing of the kind. and so you know--the thousands of consumer complaints dont lie--i know you said to contact the co through the q&a section and tell them why you think you should get your second free item, but i tried that and hundreds of other pissed consumers did too and got either no response or the same canned response that loosely fit the situation and didn't really explain why we didnt get it, and this is after getting emailed offers from the company, as you stated would be honored. a whole lot of ducking and dodging--that's what swiss colony can say about its companies reputation. crummy nonexistent customer service and crappy tiny products. and then they save their reputation how? by setting one of their whining, pompous, arrogant customer service dogs on their dissatisfied customers? nice one. that should make people feel much better about the situation. how about try apologizing to each and every one of your customers that youve fleeced? ![]()
8. Written by hey you on January 19, 2011 from hannibal, missouri, US if you read the website it clearly states You are regularly entitled to add one free item to your order on this site. If you have received a special additional offer, you may try to add it to your cart, but if the site does not recognize the offer, it may be rejected. If you still feel that you are entitled to a second free item, please let us know by contacting us through our Q&A/HELP section. In your communication, you must provide us with the number of the second item (example: AD1234) as well as with your eight-digit order number. You will see your order number on the thank you page that is displayed after you submit your order. We will honor any offer mailed to you in our catalogs or in our advertising materials. also in the catalog that is mailed it states one free item per customer per year Also if your husband used your choose and charge swiss colony card with your account number it is the same account and then he would not be entitled to a free gift on the same account as it is for the same customer if he would have opened a new account under his name and assigned a new account number then he may have been entitled to a free gift as he would be considered a new customer as for the sizes and the photos they do have the weight of the items in the descriptions and if we all go by the photos of an item then a big mac would be huge
